I'm always looking for natural, rejuvenating and budget-friendly facial mask options... and a few weeks ago, my friend Jaya who's an expert at natural skin care told me that just simply doing a yogurt facial can do wonders for your skin....best of all it does something wonderful for ALL skin types!
All you need is plain yogurt (don't use any with fruit or sugar added to it!)...Yogurt has a slew of antibacterial properties that make it a great cleanser, but because of it's lactic-acid content it also is great for soothing irritations, clarifying the pores and softening the skin. Best of all, the probiotics (live, active cultures) which are naturally found in yogurt are great for treating both acne and eczema.
For acne, it is recommended to use low- fat yogurt since it has less oil, but still provides all the same benefits as regular yogurt, but all other skin types can use regular yogurt.
From an Ayurvedic standpoint, yogurt is very cooling for the body, so for pitta skin types, this is especially an excellent thing to do....so, this summer after you've spent long hours in the sun...give your face a treat and rejuvenate it with this easy-to-do facial that will leave you GLOWING!
To do, gently wet face, then take about 1 tablespoon of yogurt and spread evenly all over your skin. Keep on for 20-30 minutes...and then wash gently with warm water. This is a great one to do once a week in the summer!
